Southlake Carroll Quarterback Quinn Ewers, the #1 ranked player in ESPN’s 2022 Top 300 rankings, announced that he will be playing football at Texas for the Longhorns and Head Coach Tom Herman.
Ewers picked the Longhorns over Ohio State and Oklahoma. He made his announcement public by tweeting, simply: “Committed!!! #TexasBornAndRaised.” Former Austin Westlake and current Texas starting QB, Sam Ehlinger, was quick to celebrate the signing, replying on Twitter to Ewers, “Congratulations on making the best decision of your life man. Welcome to the family!”
Ewers had an outstanding sophomore year for Southlake Carroll. The 6’3” 205lb QB threw for 4,003 yards, 45 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions while completing over 70% of his passes. He led the Dragons to a 13-1 season, losing in the regional finals to Duncanville. Ewers will look to lead Southlake to a title this year, and to bring a title to Austin when he gets behind center for the Longhorns in a few years.
