Darden breaks more records at UNT
Jaelon Darden broke two more records in what may have been his final home game, a 45-43 win over UTEP on Friday.
The former Houston Eisenhower star had eight catches for 173 yards and four touchdowns to help North Texas (4-5, 3-4 Conference USA) beat UTEP (3-5, 0-4) on Friday.
Darden set a new school records for receptions and receiving yards against UTEP. He also holds the school record for career receiving touchdowns (38) and receiving touchdowns in a season (19).
His fourth and final touchdown reception from Austin Aune (Argyle) was from 50-yards out and extended the Mean Green lead to 45-28 with less than nine minutes remaining.
Darden played quarterback at Eisenhower earning a District 18-6A First Team honor as a junior and a District 16-6A Honorable Mention as a senior.
UNT will play Appalachian State (8-3, 6-2 Sun Belt) in the Myrtle Beach Bowl at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.
