Texas Youth Football Coach Shot Dead on Field
43-year-old Michael Hickmon, a youth football coach in Texas, was shot and killed on the field in Lancaster during an altercation between parents/fans and the coaching staff. The 9-year-old football players were on the field during the shooting, including the son of Hickmon.
Details are still emerging in this case. Initially, former NFL star Aqib Talib was named on social media and through various news sources as the possible shooter. There was a widely circulated video of the shooting, that appeared to show Talib throwing a chair at the victim, then moving closer towards the victim when the sounds of gunshots rang out. The video only showed a very small part of the altercation, and it was not a clear video.

However, as more details emerged from the incident, it is the brother of Aqib Talib, Yaqub Salik Talib, that is the alleged shooter and that police are seeking but at the time of this article they have not been able to locate and arrest Talib. It is still not clear if Aqib was involved, or even there, nor are any details of the altercation clear, other than at some point someone, alleged to be Yaqub Talib, shot and killed Michael Hickmon.
Police said if people have any information about Yaqub Salik Talib’s whereabouts, please contact Detective Senad Deranjic at 972-218-2756.
