Week Three 6A Team of the Week: Summer Creek
6A Team of the Week: Summer Creek Bulldogs
Summer Creek welcomed Klein Collins in a showdown between two of the best teams in the Houston area. With Klein Collins coming in as the 13th ranked team in the state and Summer Creek just a spot behind them at 14, most expected a close game.
The Bulldogs had other ideas.
In a complete performance on both sides of the ball, they shut out Klein Collins in a 34-0 romp. The Tigers finished with just 189 yards of total offense.
For the Bulldogs’ offense, quarterback Blake Thomas and running back Lloyd Avant, a Tulsa commit, led the way. Thomas threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns, while Avant added another 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He also had a 51-yard touchdown reception.
Summer Creek is up 34-0 over Klein Collins with 5 min left on @dctf https://t.co/PFMb9yyryQ. What a statement from Summer Creek tonight. 21-6A might be the best district in #TXHSFB pic.twitter.com/xuTMZ0bXq2

Defensively, linebacker Xavier Atkins and defensive linemen Kaleb Walker and Jashaud Johnson all finished with three tackles for loss.
This victory closes the book on an impressive non-district slate for the Bulldogs. They’ll now turn their attention to District 21-6A play with North Shore, Atascocita, and CE King all waiting as opponents.
Summer Creek will have a bye week to prepare for that gauntlet before travelling east to take on Beaumont West Brook on Sept. 22.
