Ground Game Powers Eagles to Victory Against Buffaloes

The Roosevelt Eagles traveled to Stanton on Friday night to take on the Buffaloes. 

Roosevelt Eagles 

The Eagles Quarterback Nate Casarez did not complete a pass on the night, but made up for it on the ground, rushing for 103 yards on 12 carries and finding the endzone twice. Sebastian Sandoval rushed for 19 yards on 6 touches, getting in the endzone twice as well. Angel Olivares racked up 105 yards on the ground on 18 touches, and Logan Bartlett rushed for 56 yards on 9 touches. The Eagle defense had a huge night coming up clutch when needed, as they were led by Jacob Betancur and Jakob Mendoza, who combined for 22 tackles. 

Stanton Buffaloes 

Quarterback Jake Benedict made plays all night for the Buffaloes, as he completed 16 of 25 passes for 250 yards, throwing for one touchdown.  Benedict also rushed for a touchdown, as he racked up 39 yards on the ground.  Benedict connected with receiver Jahir Galindo, who hauled in 7 catches for 154 yards and a trip to the endzone.  Bret Davis put up 48 yards on 3 catches, and Jayden Hinojosa pulled in 4 catches for 38 yards. The Buffaloes struggled to get the ground game going. Kameron Isemann rushed for 42 yards on 14 carries, and Ruben Aviles got 15 yards on his lone carry, which resulted in him finding the endzone. 

The Eagles pulled out a win over the Buffaloes 28-21.
