Week Seven 3A Team of the Week: Henrietta
3A Team of the Week: Henrietta Bearcats
Henrietta appeared to be heading towards a district-opening loss to City View for the second-straight year last Friday. The Bearcats trailed 28-14 entering the fourth quarter.
Henrietta running back Blaze Deaton had other ideas. He rushed for three fourth quarter touchdowns as the Bearcats stormed back with 21 unanswered points to snatch a 35-28 victory.
He first flipped the momentum with a 39-yard rushing touchdown early in the quarter. From there, he added two one-yard rushing touchdowns to help Henrietta complete the comeback.
On the night, the Bearcat rushing attack proved to be too potent for City View to contain. Deaton finished with 158 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Garrett Blevins added another 151 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The win gives Henrietta some crucial momentum as the Bearcats prepare to welcome Holliday, the number eight team in 3A Division II, in another 6-3A Division II matchup this Friday.
