Vandegrift Vipers Crush Dragons 45-3

On Thursday night, the Vipers from Vandegrift took on the Round Rock Dragons in district play.

Quarterback Deuce Adams came out hot, throwing for 148 yards on 14 of 21 completed passes, rushing for 24 yards, and throwing for 1 touchdown. He connected with receivers Miles Coleman, who racked up 119 yards on 11 catches reaching the endzone once, and Jase Skoglund, who had one lone reception for 18 yards. 

Not only was the air raid offense effective, but the ground game proved to be just as successful as Brendan Fournier rushed for 77 yards on 11 carries. Zaid Oliver rushed for 57 yards on 12 touches, racking up 3 touchdowns. Leading the Vipers’ defense was Diego De La Vara, who collected 16 tackles on the night, holding the Dragons to 3 points.  

Round Rock Dragons

The Dragons came into this game struggling.  Quarterback Mason Cochran completed 4 of 11 passes for only 9 yards but rushed for 72 yards. Cochran connected with Elijah Johnson one time for 8 yards, and Reggie Hurley one time for 2 yards.

The run game proved to be a little more effective as Javonte Arnold rushed for 64 yards on 7 carries, but never found himself in the endzone. 

The Vipers won big 45-3.  

Next week Vandegrift takes on Cedar Ridge, who is coming off a 37-23 loss to Manor.  Round Rock will travel to play McNeil, who is coming off a 17-14 loss to Round Rock Westwood.
