Tompkins Seals Playoff Destiny with 49-24 Win Over Jordan

Week 10 of Texas High School Football is here and to start it off on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 The Tompkins Falcons vs The Jordan Warriors occurred. Jordan is #4 and Tompkins is #3 in the Katy district this game could heavily affect their placement in playoffs.

Jordan kickoff to Tompkins had a great return and in under a minute running back #21 Caleb Blocker scored a 25-yard rushing touchdown. Tompkins kickoff to Jordan and in their 1st play Tompkins’ linebacker #3 Josh Davis caught an interception giving Tompkins possession of the ball again. It took a while, but Caleb scored his 2nd touchdown of the game still halfway through the 1st quarter. Jordan got the ball back as they were driving the ball down the field Tompkins’ defense jumped offside giving Jordan a free play and amongst the confusion wide receiver #1 Zechariah Sample was wide open for a pass to score a 58-yard touchdown. With under a minute left in the 1st quarter Tompkins is 4th and 1 instead of kicking a field goal they tried to get the 1st down quarterback #10 Wyatt Young out of a jam and rushed to the end zone for a 48-yard touchdown. Jordan’s Zechariah received the kickoff and it took to the house for a big touchdown giving Jordan the momentum before the end of the quarter. The score at the end of 1st quarter is 21-14.

For the majority of the 2nd quarter, it was a stalemate until 3 minutes left Jordan’s wide receiver #3 Andrew Marsh caught a lob pass for a 7-yard touchdown to tie the game 21-21. Tompkins fought hard driving down the field with about 30 seconds left in the quarter Wyatt connected to wide receiver #1 Bisi Bello for a 20-yard touchdown. This put Tompkins back in the lead before halftime with a score of 28-21.

Tompkins kickoff to Jordan they made a great drive but got stopped short with a sack on 3rd down. They decided to kick a 29-yard field goal to lessen the score gap. Once Tompkins was back on offense quarterback Wyatt had come off for a few plays cause of an injury, but backup quarterback #14 Justin Thierheimer connected to wide receiver #0 Rhys Phillips for a 23-yard touchdown. Going into the 4th quarter with a score of 35-24.

Tompkins has the ball close to the end-zone they are about to score they fumble the ball and Jordan’s #50 Jason Lee recovers the fumble. Jordan fought hard, but The Tompkins defense shut them out to prevent a comeback. Quarterback Wyatt is back on the field Tompkins is on the 30 Wyatt decides to keep the ball himself and rushes in for a 29-yard touchdown. Before the game concludes, Wyatt adds one more touchdown for Tompkins which is his 3rd rushing touchdown of the game. The final score was 49-24 with Tompkins coming out on top.
