2A Team of the Week: Tahoka Bulldogs
Tahoka needed a win against Sundown to ensure its first playoff berth in four years.
And with an opportunity like that presented to them, the Bulldogs weren’t going to let it slip away.
Quarterback Brogan Stone threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns while Zane Garvin added 172 yards on the ground as Tahoka emphatically beat Sundown 42-14.
The Bulldogs came up with a number of big plays on the night. Brycyn Mann opened the scoring with a 44-yard catch-and-run touchdown as he sliced through the Sundown defense. Tahoka’s next score was an 80-yard bomb from Stone to Ruben Arguello. The Bulldog defense also had a scoop-and-score from Ahren Carrasco, while Garvin capped the night off with a 44-yard touchdown run.
Looking ahead, Tahoka has only won four playoff games in its history. The Bulldogs will be hoping for their first postseason victory since 2012 this Friday against Panhandle in Canyon.
