The former Ball High School standout, Mike Evans, secured the bag with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Evans has agreed on a 2-year 25 million dollar extension to stay with the Bucs.

Evans shined at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas, where his senior year revealed a multi-talented athlete participating in basketball, football, and track & field. Despite only playing football in his final year and not being heavily scouted, his standout performance with 25 receptions, 648 yards, and seven touchdowns earned him second-team District 24-4A honors. His prowess wasn’t limited to the gridiron; in basketball, he boasted an average of 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists as a senior, while his track & field achievements included personal bests in the triple and long jumps.

Evans’s athletic versatility caught the attention of Texas A&M, where he was recruited as a wide receiver despite his limited football experience. His impressively diverse high school sports career—marked by significant achievements in basketball and track and a promising yet brief football tenure—underscored his potential. This potential was recognized by Texas A&M, setting the stage for the next chapter in his athletic journey.

Evans was at Texas A&M from 2011-2013. After a redshirt year in 2011, he made 82 receptions for 1,105 yards and five touchdowns in 2012, earning freshman All-SEC honors. In 2013, he set a school record with 279 receiving yards against Alabama, followed by a record-breaking 287 yards and four touchdowns against Auburn. He was selected for the first-team All-SEC and the 2013 AP All-America Team, First-team, finishing the season with 69 receptions, 1,394 yards, and twelve touchdowns.

Mike Evans was selected seventh overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He had an outstanding rookie season with 68 receptions, 1,051 yards, and 12 touchdowns. In 2020, Evans became the first wide receiver in NFL history to record 1,000+ yards consecutively for seven seasons to start a career.

In 2016, Evans became the first Buccaneers receiver since 2012 to be selected for the Pro Bowl. He was also named Second-Team All-Pro in 2016. In 2021, on a Bus team led by Tom Brady as Quarterback, Evans helped lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl LV championship, beating fellow Texan Patrick Mahomes 31-9.

Evans has topped 1,000 yards each season in his ten seasons with the Buccaneers, with double-digit touchdowns in five seasons and 67 or more receptions each season.

Evans avoided free agency by signing his new deal with the Buccaneers, signaling a desire to end his career with the team that drafted him.
