Junction decisively defeated Goldthwaite, 40-6, in a non-district football matchup at Goldthwaite High School. Goldthwaite initially took the lead with a touchdown early in the first half, but Junction quickly responded with a touchdown of their own and went into halftime leading 7-6.
Junction dominated the second half, scoring 33 unanswered points. They added two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown in the third quarter, extending their lead to 27-6. In the fourth quarter, Junction scored another rushing touchdown and a final passing touchdown, making it 40-6. Goldthwaite struggled offensively in the second half, failing to add to their score.
This win improves Junction’s record to 1-0 as they prepare to host San Saba next week. Meanwhile, Goldthwaite, now 0-1, will travel to face Center Point with hopes of rebounding from this opening loss.
