Celina Dominates Gunter 38-7 to Stay Undefeated

Tom Thumb - DFW's Grocer Since 1948

On Friday night, the Celina Bobcats, coming off a dominant win against La Vega, hosted the Gunter Tigers, whose 32-game win streak was snapped last week with a 55-28 loss to Anna. Gunter aimed to regain their momentum, but Celina had a different plan.

Celina opened the scoring and never looked back, with quarterback Bowe Bentley throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Rucker. The duo later connected again for a 66-yard touchdown pass. Celina’s defense was relentless, forcing multiple turnovers and causing Gunter to fail many fourth-and-2 attempts. Bentley added two more touchdown passes to Colton Rodriguez, who had 53 and 38-yard receptions. Rucker finished with 139 yards, and Rodriguez accumulated 110 yards.

Bowe Bentley had a dominant performance, contributing 352 passing yards to Celina’s total of 520 yards. Running back Logan Gutierrez added 91 rushing yards and a 37-yard touchdown run. Gunter finally scored with a 47-yard touchdown pass from Preston Tarpley to Dylan Tokarz. Celina routed Gunter 38-7, moving to 3-0 for the season, while Gunter fell to 1-2.

Celina will look to maintain its momentum next week against Franklin, which is also coming off a strong win. Gunter needs to regroup quickly as they face Sanger, which had a close game against Community. The coming week will be crucial for both teams as they face new challenges.
