Week Eight 6A Team of the Week: Sotomayor Wildcats
6A Team of the Week: Sotomayor Wildcats
For the first time in school history, Sotomayor is heading to the playoffs. The Wildcats punched their ticket in impressive fashion with a 34-16 victory over Taft. It was the first district loss of the year for the Raiders.
A second quarter avalanche virtually ended up being the difference between the teams. Carl Little and Chauncey Moon had rushing touchdowns and the Wildcats also blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown as they put up 21 points in just seven minutes of play.
It was all Wildcats early up at Farris Stadium in their game against Taft.

Moon, a sophomore quarterback, and fellow sophomore running back Cam Grady continue to keep defenses on their toes. Moon ripped off 178 yards rushing on 15 carries, while Grady was right behind him with 156 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Defensively, Tristin Woodruff made his presence felt up front with 10 tackles and two sacks. Sophomore defensive back Aaron Adejobi had a busy night too. He blocked the punt that resulted in a touchdown and also had an interception.
The Wildcats have steadily progressed since their 2022 varsity debut. They were just 1-9 that year but improved to 4-6 a year ago. Now, they’re 6-2 this season with a chance to clinch the number two seed in district if they finish the season with two more wins.
Next up, they’ll face Warren this Saturday at 2:00.
