The Wall Hawks extended their winning streak to seven games with a dominant 58-6 victory over the Grape Creek Eagles on Friday night in District 4-3A Division II play. Wall’s high-powered offense overwhelmed Grape Creek, highlighted by the connection between quarterback Landon H. York and versatile playmaker Thomas Leanos. York passed for 293 yards and four touchdowns, completing 75% of his throws, while Leanos not only hauled in key receptions but also rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries, including a 53-yard scoring run.
Wall continued their resurgence on the ground, finishing with 215 rushing yards—far surpassing their early-season average of 91.4 rushing yards per game. Over their last four contests, the Hawks have averaged 209.5 rushing yards, showing improvement just in time for the postseason.
With the win, Wall improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the district, keeping their hopes alive for a district title. They now enjoy a bye week before facing Stanton on November 8, a matchup that will determine the district champion. The Stanton Buffaloes are 5-2 and just beat Merkel, 39-31. Grape Creek dropped to 3-6 and will host the Merkel team that just lost to Stanton next week, looking to snap their two-game skid against a struggling opponent on an eight-game losing streak.
