Allen Eagles Dominate Midland Legacy 61-0 in Season Opener

Tom Thumb - DFW's Grocer Since 1948

On Friday night in Allen, Texas, at Eagle Stadium, a highly anticipated showdown took place as the Eagles hosted the Midland Legacy Rebels. These two teams met in the playoffs last year, where Allen won 52-35. Last season started shakily for Allen, who began 0-2 but finished strong with a record of 6-4, going 5-2 in district play. Their Cinderella playoff run included victories over Lewisville, Arlington Martin, and Midland Legacy but ended against North Crowley with a 49-37 loss.

As the new season begins, senior quarterback Brady Bricker and star running back Micah Ellis return, looking to make a statement. However, most defensive starters are gone, and underclassmen must step up to fill the gaps. Midland Legacy’s only loss on offense is quarterback Marcos Davila, who is now at Purdue, but star receiver Aiden Serrano remains a significant threat to the Allen secondary.

As the game began, the Rebels kicked off to the Eagles, and senior Donnell Gee Jr. recorded a 99-yard kickoff return, putting the Rebels up 7-0 just 10 seconds into the game, energizing the Allen sideline. Midland struggled to cross midfield as the first half progressed while Allen dominated, with deep passes from Bricker and long runs from Ellis, leading 34-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Allen continued their offensive onslaught, scoring on every possession and stopping Midland Legacy at the one-yard line, preventing any scoring. The game ended with Allen dominating, winning 61-0.

Next week, the Allen Eagles will host Cedar Hill, who is coming off a 40-7 win over Midlothian. This matchup is expected to be physically intense, as always, when these two teams collide. Meanwhile, Midland Legacy will host Euless Trinity, who recently defeated Strake Jesuit 49-28.
