Allen looked like they would be cruising to another undefeated regular season, but the Prosper Eagles put Allens 81 game regular-season win streak in jeopardy.
Allen came into the game 6-0 and 4-0 in District 5-6A play. A win would guarantee them no worse than a tie for the district title. Prosper came into the game 4-2, having just lost their second game to Braswell, 24-41. A big underdog, Prosper came to play.
Buzz started to grow on social media as Prosper took a 10-7 lead into halftime. The game went back and forth throughout the second half. The teams traded third-quarter touchdowns, with Prosper taking a 17-14 lead into the fourth. The game would see 5 lead changes in the fourth quarter.
Allen would keep taking the lead in the fourth, only to see Prosper take the lead right back. With 1:03 left in the 4th quarter, Prosper quarterback Jackson Berry threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Keaton Nickerson to give Prosper a 31-28 lead over Allen. But as they had all night, Allen came back. They moved down the field in 8 plays to the Propser 1-yard line, and with less than 10 seconds to go, Allen quarterback General Booty found receiver Bryson Green for an acrobatic 1-yard touchdown. Allen took a 35-31 lead with 6 seconds to go. But the drama was not over.
On the last play of the game, Prosper prepared for a lateral drill play, and it looked like they had blocked lined-up for a possible run for a score, but a referee inadvertently blew the whistle, chaos happened, many Prosper players stopped, and eventually Allen stopped the play.
Final Score: Alen 35 / Prosper 21
Jordan Johnson led the way for Allen on offense, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 173 yards. He had a 67 and 10-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter. Prosper was led by Jackson Berry, who threw for 277 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 50 yards and a touchdown.
This was the 82nd consecutive regular-season win for Allen, their 65th in district play, and their 53rd consecutive home win. They finish their regular-season at Braswell. Despite getting the loss, the Prosper Eagles played well. They finish up hosting McKinney Boyd.
