Antoine Winfield (The Woodlands) will have an up front look at Tampa Bay’s attempt to return to relevance in 2020.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected the University of Minnesota defensive back with the 45th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday. Tampa is coming off a 7-9 season and has struggled since winning the Super Bowl 16 years ago.
Windfield helped the Golden Gophers finish with an Associated Press Top 10 ranking by leading the team with 88 tackles. He also had three sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.
He was a three-year letterman at The Woodlands.
Winfield became the fourth former Texas High School Football standout selected on Friday. The Houston Texans took TCU defensive lineman Ross Blacklock (Missouri City Elkins) 40th overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault (Desoto) with the next pick and the Cleveland Browns took LSU defensive back Grant Delpit with the 44th pick.
