Atascocita Eagles Remain Undefeated With 28-21 Overtime Win
Saturday night on October 21st, 2023, The Atascocita Eagles (8-0) vs The C.E King Panthers (6-2) will take place. Both teams have accomplished tremendous feats this season. During week 2, Atascocita beat the notorious Katy Tigers, and C.E King beat The Allen Eagles, one of the best teams in Texas. Because of these wins, both teams are highly ranked in Houston. Atascocita is #1, and C.E. King is #6.
The Eagles received the 1st kickoff of the game, but could not get the gears moving quite yet on offense and had to punt it to The Panthers. On offense, King was steadily driving the ball down the field and made it around the 15 on 3rd down, but running back #3 Dionne Sims rushed in for the 1st touchdown of the game. After Atascocita failed to score again, they punted it back to King and, getting around the 15 again, running back #7 Kason Dobbins scored the 2nd touchdown of the game. At the end of the 1st quarter, King leads with a score of 14-0.
In the 2nd quarter, Atascocita was finally warmed up with the offense fully revved up quarterback #1 Zion Brown was running and passing with efficiency, and when they were near the end zone, Zion rushed in for a 2-yard touchdown. King has the ball, and within a couple of plays, #34 recovered a fumble and ran it to the house for a touchdown, tying up the game. The Eagles’ defense got a turnover on downs, giving the offense only a few seconds in the 2nd quarter. Leave it to Zion to locate wide receiver #12 Cameron Glenn for a 66-yard touchdown pass to end the 2nd quarter in the lead with a score of 21-14.
The Panthers received the kickoff after the half. In the 3rd quarter, the game was at a stalemate, with neither team making any progress. Halfway through the 4th quarter, quarterback #1 Darius Clark-James connected a 55-yard touchdown pass to #0 Vincent Jones to tie up the game again at 21-21. The score remained unchanged at the end of regulation, and now the game goes into overtime. The Eagles get 1st possession of the ball on the 25-yard line, and in the 1st play, Zion locates Cameron again for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Unfortunately, for The Panthers, when it was their turn on offense, they could not score, resulting in the final score of the game being 28-21, with The Eagles remaining undefeated.
