Two days after postponing his commitment announcement, five-star linebacker Baron Browning went ahead and made a decision, announcing he will attend Ohio State University.

According to 247sports.com, Browning was the ninth-ranked player nationally and third in the state of Texas. Browning’s final six schools were Alabama, Michigan, Florida State, UCLA, TCU and Ohio State. Alabama was said to be the leader going into the announcement, but an official visit to Ohio State on Saturday to watch the Buckeyes beat Michigan 30-27 in 2 overtimes had a lasting impression on the young man.

Urban Meyer and assistant coaches Tim Beck, Luke Fickell and Greg Schiano made a visit to Kennedale on Wednesday, and it looks like that sealed the deal. Browning is the only linebacker commit in the 2017 class for the Buckeyes and could see playing time early on special teams.
Browning joins Texans J.K Dobbins as the only Texans in Ohio State’s 2017 class so far. Kennedale has the 4A Division I regional final Friday against Van.
