Matt Rhule has yet to coach a game at Baylor but he and his staff have been white hot on the recruiting trail.
On Monday, the Bears picked up their latest commit, this one coming from East Texas. Marshall defensive end Marje Smith announced his commitment to the Bears 2018 recruiting class.

Smith also had an offer from Stephen F. Austin. Per Colt Barber, Smith was offered over the weekend after attending a camp in East Texas and making an unofficial visit to Waco.
The 6-6, 210-pound defensive end has shown his versatility on the field for the Marshall Mavericks playing on the defensive line as well as wide receiver, where he was a second-team all-district selection.
Smith is the 15th commit in Baylor’s Class of 2018 and is the latest addition in the second-highest rated recruiting class in the Big 12 according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
As for the upcoming season, he’ll look to play an important role for the Mavericks in 2017 under new head coach Claude Mathis.
