Big Night in Frisco for Playoff Contenders
The playoff picture for District 6 in 5A-D1 became a little clearer Friday night as all the teams with playoff hopes were in action, except Frisco Heritage. Heritage had a bye week after suffering their first district loss to Frisco last week. The Coyotes still have a chance at the district championship. If they beat Frisco Reedy next week and Lone Star in week 11, and Frisco loses one more game, Heritage would clinch the one seed. A lot on the line for Heritage over these next two weeks.
FRISCO VS FRISCO REEDY
No game had more importance than this one, and Reedy took care of business once again defeating the Racoons 29-7. Reedy RB Dennis Moody continued his impressive season with 213 yards and a touchdown. The win puts the Lions at 9-0 (7-0 in district), and they’ve officially clinched a playoff spot. A win next week against Heritage would give them the undefeated district championship. Reedy has a bye in week 11. Meanwhile Frisco remains in second place in the district (6-2, 5-1), and has a tough one next week against a resurgent Frisco Lone Star team. Speaking of the Rangers..
SHERMAN AT FRISCO LONE STAR
The Rangers continue to take care of business, easily handling Sherman 48-7. The Rangers (6-2, 4-2) have now won four straight games in district and this sets up a huge showdown next week with Frisco High. A loss for Lone Star could very well mean they’d be the odd man out in the playoffs.
FRISCO WAKELAND VS FRISCO LEBANON TRAIL
Wakeland also took care of business, taking out Lebanon Trail 35-7. The Wolverines (5-3, 4-2) were led by QB Brennan Myer’s 301 yards passing and four touchdowns to four different receivers. On Defense, linebacker Barrett Kennedy led the way with 15 tackles and a forced fumble. The Wolverines travel to Sherman next week. A would clinch a play off spot for the Wolverines.
