The UIL has upheld its decision to rule two high school football players ineligible to play.
UIL met today and released this statement:
AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes.
A student-athlete from Burnet High School and two student-athletes from Converse Judson High School were denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.
The committee upheld the ruling that Jordan Battles and L.J. Butler transferred to Judson for athletic purposes. The two star players will be ineligible to play this year.
Jordan Battles announced today that he is enrolling at Holy Cross. Battles, a Quarterback, led Brandeis to the State Quarterfinals last year and was voted District 28-6A MVP, He had transferred to Judson in February.
L.J. Butler transferred from Wagner in June. As the starting running back at Wagner, he rushed for over 2,000 yards both seasons there and led them to back-to-back Class 5A Division II State Quarterfinals.
