The Bremond Tigers turned their homecoming into a statement win Friday, rallying from a sluggish start to defeat rival Mart 28-20 in their District 10-2A Division II opener.
After two first-half turnovers, Bremond trailed 6-0 at halftime. But Tank Scott took over in the second half, rushing for 342 yards and four touchdowns, including a dazzling 73-yard sprint that electrified Tiger Field. His scores of 72 and 15 yards in the third quarter flipped momentum as the Tigers built a 14-12 lead heading into the final frame.
Bremond’s defense also played its part, intercepting two Mart passes late to preserve the win. Braylon Estrada and Tristan Morehead each recorded picks.
Mart kept things tight with touchdowns from Damian Davis, De’Quinn Preston, and Zach Medlock, but Scott’s dominance proved too much to overcome.
Bremond (4-0, 1-0) stays unbeaten and heads to Wortham next week, while Mart (1-3) looks to regroup against Chilton.
