The Cleveland Browns added depth to their defensive line on Friday by drafting Missouri defensive lineman Jordan Elliott (Missouri City Westside) with the 88th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Elliott is the second former Texas High School Football standout that Cleveland drafted on Friday. The Browns also selected LSU defensive back and Thorpe Award winner Grant Delpit (Houston Lamar) with the 44th overall pick.
Cleveland went 6-10 in 2019 and has struggled to find consistency since the franchise was reborn in 1999.
Elliott’s play earned him a spot on Pro Football Focus’ all-SEC second team after amassing 44 tackles, including 31 solo, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
He was a U.S. Army All-American at Missouri City Westside an began his collegiate career at Texas before transferring to Mizzou.
Elliott is the third player that played prep football in Texas to be drafted in the third round. The Miami Dolphins took Texas defensive back Brandon Jones (Nacogdoches) with the 70th overall pick and the Baltimore Ravens selected Texas A&M defensive lineman Justin Madubuike one spot later.
