For one quarter, Bowie had Lake Travis on the ropes. The Bulldogs struck quickly with touchdowns from Rhys Moreno and Trevor Watts to seize a 14-0 lead, while the Cavaliers stumbled with two opening punts.
But the momentum shifted in a hurry. Lake Travis, the No. 1-ranked 6A team in Central Texas, erupted for 42 unanswered points in the second quarter alone. Bowie managed just 16 yards during that stretch as the Cavs found their rhythm on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Luke McBride overcame a slow start to complete 19 straight passes, finishing with four touchdowns through the air. Westin Smith caught two of those scores, while Jackson Lueders and Lark Sidle added one each.
Running back Vann Hopping added 87 rushing yards and two scores as Lake Travis overwhelmed Bowie with offensive balance and relentless defense.
The Cavaliers improved to 5-0 (1-0 district), while Bowie dropped to 3-2 (0-1). Both teams will face Del Valle next, with Bowie hosting on October 3 and Lake Travis traveling there on October 10.
