The 6-foot athlete visited Tennessee earlier this year and could tell that his parents were extremely impressed with the Vols and Tennessee. “I think as soon as we left my parents had that mindset. That [Tennessee] is where they wanted me to go.” Ultimately, he decided he felt the same way.
Salter is the Vols’ 11th commitment in the span of two weeks and the 21st commitment overall in 2021 recruiting class. “I really love the coaching staff,” Salter said. “The love they have with my family and me… it’s a big game-changer.”
Salter is ranked as the No. 4 overall dual-threat quarterback and No. 12 overall in the state of Texas.
Salter visited Tennessee on March 12 just hours before the NCAA shut down recruiting visits due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic. Salter will bring a pro-style of playing to the Vols while still being able to make throws from the pocket. He chose Tennessee over programs like Baylor, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kansas, Indiana and more.
