Celina High School head football coach and athletic director Bill Elliott has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as Celina ISD continues to cooperate with investigators following the arrest of his son, Caleb Elliott.
The district clarified in a letter to parents Friday that Bill Elliott is not accused of any wrongdoing. Officials said his temporary leave was recommended by a third-party investigator to avoid any potential conflicts that could compromise the ongoing investigation.
Moore Middle School Principal Allison Ginn was also placed on paid leave for the same reason.
The move comes after former Moore Middle School teacher and football coach Caleb Elliott, Bill Elliott’s son, was arrested and charged with invasive visual recording and possession of child pornography earlier this month. Police say the younger Elliott secretly recorded students in the boys’ locker room.
The arrests sparked community outrage, leading to a packed school board meeting where parents called for accountability and transparency. Bill Elliott, a respected coach who led Celina to state championships, addressed parents last week, saying there was “one person to blame,” his son, and that justice should take its course.
On Thursday, several parents of alleged victims filed a lawsuit against Celina ISD and Caleb Elliott, accusing the district of ignoring prior warning signs and mishandling reports of misconduct. The lawsuit also alleges emotional harm and trauma among affected students.
State Representative Jeff Leach has since asked the Texas Attorney General’s Office to review the district’s handling of the case, while the third-party investigation continues.
Celina ISD emphasized that both employees remain on leave while the independent investigation proceeds, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and student safety.
