Clash of the Undefeated: Frisco vs Lovejoy
Two teams from the DFW metro area, Frisco (7-0) and Lovejoy (7-0) will battle each other on Friday night at Lovejoy. Both teams have high-scoring offenses, they just go about getting their points in very different ways.
Frisco’s Rushing Attack
Frisco runs the ball, and then runs it some more. They are scoring 49 points per game and do it mostly on the ground. They lead all area 5A teams with 2,702 yards rushing.
Frisco has scored 50+ points twice and 70 points once.
Their backfield could very easily be described as The Four Horsemen of Frisco, an homage to the great Notre Dame team of 1924. Their real names are Martin, Hamilton, Miyazono, and Hardin. This quartet has combined to score 32 rushing TDs.
Bradford Martin has rushed for 836 yards and 6 touchdowns, Jordan Hamilton has gained 499 yards, and 8 touchdowns, Brandon Miyazono has racked up 434 yards and 7 touchdowns, and Dylan Hardin has rushed for 294 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Frisco’s philosophy: run the ball, wear down the opposing defense, control the clock, and limit the scoring opportunities of your opponent. And it has paid off.
Lovejoy’s Passing Attack
The aerial assault of Lovejoy is second among area teams, passing for 2070 yards. They have averaged 295 yards passing per game and are scoring 56 points per game. This offense is led by Alexander Franklin.
Franklin has passed for 1907 yards (second among area QBs) and 33 touchdowns (leads all area 5A teams). He has thrown only 4 INTs and has completed 67% of his passes.
Their offense has struck with precision all season. They have outscored their opponents 276-14 in the 1st half, allowing for Lovejoy to substitute and play mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers in the second half.
Franklin’s favorite targets are Jaxson Lavender (677 yards, 11 TDs) and Parker Livingstone (568 yards, 10 TDs).
Lovejoy has scored 50+ points in each of their last three games, outscoring those opponents 163-14.
Their defense is just as outstanding. They have allowed just 10 points per game.
Lovejoy holds a 5-3 advantage in the series with Frisco, with Lovejoy winning last year’s meeting 38-28.
Frisco’s rushing attack vs Lovejoy’s passing attack. Who wins the battle?
