Texas HS Football Class 2A Division II Regional Rankings
Week 6 – TXHSFB Plus+ Premium Content
Region I | ||
Team | Rec | |
1 | Canadian | (3-1) |
2 | Cisco | (5-0) |
3 | Sonora | (4-1) |
4 | Abernathy | (3-1) |
5 | Post | (4-1) |
6 | Spearman | (4-1) |
7 | Crane | (5-0) |
8 | Ama. Highland Park | (4-1) |
9 | Stanton | (4-1) |
10 | Tulia | (2-2) |
Watch List: Colorado City (2-3); Alpine (2-2); Lubbock Roosevelt (3-2); Ballinger (2-3)
Analyzing The Region: Canadian and Cisco are the clearly the class of the region and they will remain so until someone can knock them off the pedestal. That said, there are a good number of teams that will be up to the challenge of knocking down the duo. Sonora, Abernathy and Crane are three that come to mind. Canadian’s 1-2A2 district schedule will be a challenge, but expect the Wildcats get through it unscathed.
Region II | ||
Team | Rec | |
1 | Cooper | (5-0) |
2 | Mildred | (3-1) |
3 | Gunter | (4-1) |
4 | Edgewood | (5-0) |
5 | Leonard | (4-1) |
6 | Tolar | (3-1) |
7 | Scurry-Rosser | (4-0) |
8 | Jacksboro | (2-2) |
9 | S&S Consolidated | (5-0) |
10 | Alba-Golden | (3-2) |
Watch List: Nocona (3-2); Tolar (2-2); WF City View (3-1); Millsap (2-2)
Analyzing The Region: One of the biggest things you can take out of this region is the fact that it is one of the most wide open regions in the entire state. Cooper and Mildred appear to be the odd-on favorites with Mildred coming into the year as a state finalist from a year ago and Cooper only allowing 5.2 points a game. If this continues, the Cooper Bulldogs will have something extremely special. Leonard and Gunter out of 7-2A2 should also be considered threats in a deep round scenario.
Region III | ||
Team | Rec | |
1 | Hughes Springs | (4-0) |
2 | Centerville | (4-0) |
3 | Waskom | (4-0) |
4 | Garrison | (5-0) |
5 | Corrigan-Camden | (4-0) |
6 | Deweyville | (4-0) |
7 | Paul Pewitt | (3-1) |
8 | Crawford | (4-0) |
9 | New Diana | (3-1) |
10 | Rosebud-Lott | (4-0) |
Watch List: Hawkins (4-1); Winona (4-1); Groveton (3-2); Anderson-Shiro (3-1)
Analyzing The Region: The Region III scene has plenty of heavy hitters that are all capable of winning the region and making a run at a potential state championship bid. Centerville, Waskom, Rosebud-Lott and Hughes Springs all are averaging below 14 points a game defensively. Deweyville and Corrigan-Camden , like that of Waskom and Hughes Springs, are averaging over 40 points a game on the scoreboard in their own favor. The 9-2A2 race will be the key to region.
Region IV | ||
Team | Rec | |
1 | East Bernard | (4-0) |
2 | Rogers | (5-0) |
3 | Refugio | (3-1) |
4 | Danbury | (5-0) |
5 | Poth | (2-2) |
6 | Taft | (3-1) |
7 | Blanco | (2-1) |
8 | Jarrell | (4-1) |
9 | Nixon-Smiley | (3-1) |
10 | Hebbronville | (3-1) |
Watch List: Schulenburg (2-2); Blanco (2-2) and Johnson City (4-1)
Analyzing The Region: East Bernard, Rogers and Refugio are the teams to beat in Region IV. The depth of the region is not as big as some may believe. Taking note, 21 of the region’s 30 teams are .500 or worse overall after five weeks of the season. 11 of the 16 teams in 15-2A2 and 16-2A2 have a record of 1-3 or worse. Only East Bernard, Danbury and Rogers are undefeated.
