Class 3A Regional Rankings (Week 6)

Texas HS Football Class 3A Regional Rankings
Week 6 – TXHSFB Plus+ Premium Content

Region I
  Team Rec
1 Graham (5-0)
2 Stephenville (4-1)
3 Vernon (5-0)
4 Shallowater (5-0)
5 Monahans (2-1)
6 Abilene Wylie (3-2)
7 Burnet (4-1)
8 Dalhart (4-1)
9 Liberty Hill (4-1)
10 Kennedale (1-4)
11 Alvarado (2-3)
12 Lake Worth (3-2)
13 Lubbock-Cooper (4-1)
14 Big Spring (4-1)
15 Iowa Park (3-2)

Watch List: Levelland (4-1); Glen Rose (3-2); Wichita Falls Hirschi (4-1); Pecos (3-2)
Analyzing The Region: In all likely scenarios, the region will come down to Graham and Stephenville standing tall at the end. But there are host of other teams that could make a major push for a regional title. Look for Abilene Wylie to rebound, Burnet to continue to improve and Shallowater to make big strides as a “surprise” team to the rest of the general public and media in the next few weeks. Despite, their 1-4, Kennedale should not be taken lightly as they could be in for a good run once district play begins.

Region II
  Team Rec
1 Argyle (5-0)
2 Gilmer (5-0)
3 Kilgore (4-0)
4 Celina (5-0)
5 Gainesville (4-0)
6 Princeton (5-0)
7 Tyler Chapel Hill (3-2)
8 Melissa (4-1)
9 Athens (5-0)
10 Bullard (3-1)
11 Ferris (5-0)
12 Frisco Lone Star (5-0)
13 Decatur (4-1)
14 Atlanta (3-2)
15 Carrollton Ranchview (4-1)

Watch List: Pittsburg (2-2); Dallas Madison (3-2); Liberty-Eylau (2-3); Kaufman (3-2)
Analyzing The Region: It is pretty clear that the two best districts in the region come from 10-3A and 16-3A. The two districts occupy six of the ten spots in the region including the top four spots. In fact 10-3A’s top four teams are a combined 19-1 overall on the 2013 season. Outside the two districts, a couple teams to keep an eye on over the next two weeks are Princeton and Ferris. Ferris has three shutouts and Princeton has two. Going into the district schedule undefeated will be a major confidence booster for both.

Region III
  Team Rec
1 West Orange-Stark (3-1)
2 Carthage (4-1)
3 Lorena (5-0)
4 Fairfield (5-0)
5 Silsbee (3-1)
6 Coldspring-Oakhurst (3-1)
7 Navasota (4-1)
8 Waco Connally (4-1)
9 Robinson (5-0)
10 Huffman-Hargrave (2-1)
11 La Marque (2-3)
12 Stafford (4-0)
13 Buna (4-1)
14 Houston Yates (3-1)
15 West Columbia (2-2)

Watch List: Houston Furr (4-1); Shepherd (4-1); Rockdale (2-3); Waco La Vega (2-3)
Analyzing The Region:  Navasota losing to Fairfield was a major wake up call for the region and it caused a major shake up in the regional rankings. There is no clear cut favorite in the region as of this point other than Carthage. Despite the loss to Whitehouse, Carthage should remain in solid shape to regional final appearance. Strength of schedule for 17-3A is highly in question but the teams in the district continue to win and do their part.

Region IV
  Team Rec
1 El Campo (3-0)
2 Somerset (3-1)
3 Port Isabel (5-0)
4 La Grange (4-0)
5 Pleasanton (5-0)
6 Columbus (3-1)
7 Geronimo Navarro (5-0)
8 Wharton (5-0)
9 Sinton (4-1)
10 Cuero (3-1)
11 Bellville (3-2)
12 Gonzales (3-1)
13 Kingsville King (3-2)
14 Ingleside (3-2)
15 Orange Grove (5-0)

Watch List: Sealy (3-2); Wimberley (2-3); Hondo (2-2); Fredericksburg (4-1); La Vernia (4-1)
Analyzing The Region: Losses by Bellville, Ingleside and Wimberley brought in a few movements and despite losing by just one, Kingville King moves in to the regional picture. Much like Region III, there is no clear cut favorite with exception to one team. That team is El Campo, which has had to deal with a double-bye due to the massive downpour that caused havoc a couple weeks ago. The Ricebirds should be just fine going into district play but they face a very tough test with Bellville, who could have the right recipe to pull off the upset.
