Baylor linebacker Clay Johnston (Abilene Wylie) is headed to the City of Stars after being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 234th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday.
Johnston joins a Rams team that looks to rebound after going 9-7 in 2019. The Rams made it to the Super Bowl the previous season.
Johnston helped Baylor navigate though a perfect regular season a pass-happy, offensively potent Big 12. He amassed 179 career tackles in Waco.
Johnston was a two-time all-state linebacker during his prep days at Abilene Wylie.
He is the second Texas High School Football product taken in the seventh round of the draft. The Arizona Cardinals took Arizona State running back Eno Benjamin with the 222nd overall pick on Saturday.
