coaches son dies of gun shot

by Greg Sherman “Mr. Bow Tie”

Austin LBJ HC Jahmal Fenner lost his son to a shooting a few days prior to their 4A-I 3rd round game vs Boerne.  The Jaguars defense paid tribute to the Fenner family by winning 1 for the family…

Austin LBJ is known for their video game offense which can score 60, 70 or even 88 points in a game.  Their defense had a quality game to get the Jaguars to December football for the 2nd straight year.  Oscar Gordon threw for 303 yards and 6 touchdowns with only 4 incompletions as LBJ beat Boerne 68-24 to advance to the 4A-I quarterfinals for the 2nd straight year and 4th time overall.

Trent Leary had 9 catches for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns while Sedrick Alexander had 117 rushing yards and 2 scores.  But it was the defense that proved to be big for LBJ (13-0).  Boerne (9-3) scored a touchdown on their opening possession after converting 2 4th down attempts.  After that, the Jaguars only allowed 2 touchdowns the final 45:41.  By the time the Greyhounds found the end zone again, it was already 49-10 and the contest was over.

The Jaguars will play 14-A-I district foe Fredericksburg in the quarterfinals.  LBJ only led 17-14 at half in the district meeting before pulling away to win 40-14.

Riley Pechacek had 171 rushing yards and Rashawn Galloway threw for 195 but was injured early in the game.

Boerne was seeking their 2nd quarterfinal appearance in football and 1st since 2013.
