The undefeated Conroe Oak Ridge War Eagles look to get a homecoming district win against the 2-2 Montgomery Bears. Oak Ridge has surprised a whole lot of people speeding out to an undefeated record early in the season. Montgomery has had an up and down season, pulling of wins against Alief Hastings and Ellison, but falling to Trinity and Beaumont West Brook.
The Bears are led by quarterback Jordan Hood who has 744 yards passing to pair with seven touchdowns. They run a fairly balanced offense that averages 174.5 passing yards to 90 rushing yards per game. Daniel Dobis and Caleb Campbell are Hood’s go-to target in the passing game, on the ground it’s senior Alexander Nunn out of the backfield.
On the defensive side, the Bears have 9 sacks this season, and run a tough, fast-paced defense that racks up tackles. They look to move to 2-1 in the district with an upset win Friday night.
Oak Ridge runs a fast-paced spread offense to pair with a powerful defense. Quarterbacks Bishop Durst and Reinard Britz are weapons through the air and on the ground. Wide receivers Tanner Lacy and Darrius Jelks round out a high-octane passing game. Up front, four-star offensive tackle Tyler Johnson leads an offensive line that keeps the quarterbacks clean.
Defensively, Joseph Ossai has had four sacks and seven TFLs through four games and has lived up to his four-star ranking. On the backend, Malachi Cramm leads a secondary that’s forced six turnovers so far this season as the War Eagles looks to extend their winning streak to five games.
