The Dallas Cowboys will lean on experience to fill in for Dan Bailey. Per Mike Garofolo, the team has signed former Jets and Bengals kicker Mike Nugent to replace the injured Bailey.

Bailey was injured during Sunday’s game at San Francisco and will reportedly be out for a few weeks. Safety Jeff Heath was brought in as the emergency kicker and filled in admirably, making two of three extra points in the win over the 49ers.

Nugent was cut from the Bengals last December after a season where he missed six extra points. He later signed with the Giants during the offseason to compete with Aldrick Rosas for the starting job and was later cut.

In a corresponding move, the Dallas Cowboys released defensive end Damontre Moore on Tuesday. Moore was suspended for the first two games of the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He finished with five tackles in three games but was inactive for Sunday’s game against San Francisco.

The Cowboys travel to FedEx Field on Sunday in a pivotal NFC East matchup with the Washington Redskins.
