CUERO, Texas — Cuero’s own five-star athlete Jordan Whittington will be making the trip to Norman, Oklahoma, this weekend.
Whittington, who has been targeted by the likes of UCLA, Texas and Texas A&M, is a junior for the Gobblers. This year, his junior year, he has hauled in 47 catches for 907 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Watching film, you can see why he’s got five stars next to his name. Whittington has the ability to overpower and run past defenders, which you can see as he has amassed 100 yards receiving in every game except two. In the other two games, he still caught six for 158 yards and three touchdowns.
He’s also not bad at out of the backfield. The junior has had limited carries but still has 28 for 216 yards on the season. His all-purpose yards, which include the return game, put Whittington just under 1,500 on the season. That doesn’t include his defensive play, in which he has two interceptions.
The Whittington family has a rich history throughout Cuero and the state of Texas. His older brother, Quincy spent some time at SMU after he graduated in 2008.
Oklahoma plays TCU this weekend and according to multiple reports, there will be plenty of other recruits there on visit.
