Dallas Looks To Thanksgiving To Get Back On Track

The Struggling Dallas Cowboys (5-5) are in desperate need to get back to winning if they wish to make the playoffs. To do so, they’ll have to skip the Thanksgiving meal for a game against a better-than-advertised team.

In their way, the Los Angeles Chargers, coming off a 54-24 win in Buffalo. For Dallas, one of the toughest obstacles will be the Charger defense. Led by Joey Bosa (10.5 sacks) and Melvin Ingram (8.5 sacks), it will look to force Dak Prescott into a plethora of bad choices.

In the last two games, Prescott has been sacked 12 times. It’s been tough for the Dallas offense without running back Ezekiel Elliott, who’s serving a six-game suspension. In the third game, the Cowboy offense will need to score. The obvious statement is about as clear as can be, as the  Cowboys have put up one touchdown in eight quarters after scoring 28 or more in six games straight.

Los Angeles has had its own issues. At 4-6, the Chargers could almost easily be 6-4. Two close losses to New England and Jacksonville came by a total of 11 points. In the Chargers four wins, veteran quarterback Philip Rivers has eight touchdowns to one interception with 960 yards.

Rivers and Melvin Gordon (633 yards, five touchdowns), will look to take advantage of a poor Cowboy defense. If the Cowboys are unable to produce Charger turnovers, this game could keep Los Angeles in the playoff hunt.

The NFC East isn’t out of grasp, yet. But at 5-5, the Cowboys trail Philadelphia by two games in the division. If Philadelphia ends up winning its game against New York on December 17, it’ll secure the East. But for now, Dallas needs to win as the NFC has five teams with seven or more wins.

The race to remain playoff-eligible begins on Thanksgiving in Arlington at 3:30.
