The regional semifinals have some interesting matchups, including Denton Guyer versus Arlington in a game many favor the Wildcats in.
Denton Guyer – Season Record 11-1
Coming off a come-from-behind win over Cedar Hill, Guyer has shown that its star players are ready for whatever challenges they face. Running back Kaedric Cobbs is often overlooked because of the quarterback play of Eli Stowers, but you cannot ignore this young man’s 2000 yards on the season.
Cobbs was key in the comeback over the Horns at AT&T Stadium on Saturday with 200 yards on the ground. Guyer will need the dual threat of Stowers, coupled with the thundering runs of Cobbs if they look to get past Arlington.
Arlington – Season Record 9-3
The Colts of Arlington have been enjoying recent success and playoff runs, and if they want to continue galloping past the regional semifinal round, the Colts will have to play fast, physical and contain this Guyer Wildcat offense.
Outside of the three losses, this defense is only giving up 14 points per game to opposing offenses.
The key to an Arlington victory might be within the standout athlete Jahari Rogers, who is committed to Florida.
Rogers provides shutdown capabilities on defense, and on offense this kid is explosive and can shred opposing defenses with his legs or his arm. The Wildcat team is going to have their hands full coming up with a game plan on both sides of the ball to stop this 4-star athlete.
Prediction
Denton Guyer 35, Arlington 31
