The Denton Ryan High School community is mourning the loss of defensive coordinator Aaron De La Torre, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday. De La Torre had been with the Raiders for seven seasons and was a respected figure in the program. His son, Alex De La Torre, confirmed the news and requested privacy for the family as they grieve.
Denton ISD expressed its condolences, stating, “The loss of Aaron De La Torre is a tragedy. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.” The district offered support to the family and the Ryan High School community, asking for prayers for those impacted by his passing.
De La Torre, a former standout at Stephen F. Austin, had a brief NFL career before transitioning to coaching. He led Irving High School as head coach for six years before returning to Denton Ryan, where he served as defensive coordinator. He is survived by his two sons, Alex, a coach at Wylie East, and Kolt, an offensive lineman at Stephen F. Austin.
