Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after his breakout performance on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
The rookie quarterback dazzled in his first start at home on Sunday, finishing 25-of-34 for 283 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown in the 57-14 blowout of the Titans.
Terrific honor for @deshaunwatson. His 5 total touchdowns tied for second-most by a rookie in NFL history behind Gale Sayers 6 TDs in 1965 pic.twitter.com/rorrFcTDX2

Watson’s performance on Sunday was a historic one as he tied for the most touchdowns accounted for by a rookie in league history. He also became the first rookie quarterback since Fran Tarkenton to account for four passing and one rushing touchdown.
It was a strong performance from a player who has taken the spotlight quickly in Houston. He will have an even bigger spotlight on Sunday when the Texans host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night at NRG Stadium.
