One of the key playmakers returning for the state champion DeSoto Eagles has decided where to play his college football. On Wednesday, DeSoto ATH B.J. Hanspard announced his commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Hanspard was an important contributor last season for the Eagles, finishing with 40 tackles, 12 pass deflections and three interceptions from the cornerback position. Two of those interceptions came in the state semifinals against Klein Collins en route to a comeback win by DeSoto.
The four-star recruit had offers from Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and Oregon among others. There was some belief that Hanspard would follow in the footsteps of his father, Byron, to Lubbock. Instead, it appears that the standout cornerback has decided to blaze his own trail in Fayetteville.
