DeSoto Continues Their Reign
Even during the summer, the DeSoto Eagles keep proving that they are the current kings of Texas high school football.
The DeSoto Eagles, who won back-to-back 6A DII State Championships and were the unquestioned best team in Texas last year and arguably the best team in the country, displayed their dominance again. The Eagles, led by Head Coach Claude Mathis, defeated the Austin Anderson Trojans 38-20, securing the 2024 Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament Division I Championship.
Senior quarterback Kelden Ryan, a Virginia Tech commit, led the way for DeSoto, filling the enormous shoes of DJ Bailey. Ryan threw six touchdowns, four of them to 4-Star wide receiver Daylon Singleton.
The Eagles start their quest for a three-peat on August 31st against the Creekside Seminoles.
