District 6-5A D1 got a little clarity this weekend, but still left a lot of questions unanswered as we head into the final week of the season.

REEDY VS HERITAGE

Reedy (10-0, 8-0) finished their perfect regular season with an unbelievable 32-31 win over Frisco Heritage.  The game went back and forth all night, and Reedy held a 31-26 lead late in the game.  Forced to punt deep in their own territory, linebacker Josef Fuksa came through unblocked and not only blocked the punt, but scooped it up for the touchdown.  More late-game special teams heroics from Reedy, and they finish 10-0 and district champs.  The Lions get a week off before taking on Dallas WT White in a Bi-district game.  Heritage (6-3, 5-2) is still well alive in the playoff race.  A win over Lone Star on Friday would lock them into the second or third spot.  A loss could potentially knock them out in a three way tie scenario.

WAKELAND AT SHERMAN

Sherman pulled off the huge 33-28 upset over Wakeland Friday night in the rain and cold in Sherman.  A torrential downpour in the second half effectively shut down the Wolverine’s passing game.  Add in some untimely turnovers and Sherman converting several third downs, and it’s a recipe for disaster.  Wakeland (5-4, 4-3) still has the ability to finish as the third seed and it’s pretty simple—the Wolverines need to beat Frisco by 5 and hope that Heritage beats Lone Star.  That would give the Wolverines the three.

LONE STAR VS FRISCO

After a lightning delay on Friday night, the game between the Rangers and Racoons was moved to Saturday at noon.  The result was a defensive slugfest as the Rangers pulled off the 13-3 victory.  Lone Star (7-2, 5-2) has now won five straight district games, and looks a good bet to make the playoffs.  Frisco (6-3, 5-2) is still in the race, but they have to beat Wakeland on Thursday to guarantee a spot.

Both the big games will be at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco this week.  Wakeland-Frisco is Thursday at 7, and Heritage-Lone Star is Friday at 7.  It’s going to be a wild finish to what has been an unpredictable season.
