One of the top projected defensive returners for the defending state champion DeSoto Eagles has transferred. Per EJ Holland of 247 Sports, linebacker Ashton Brooks has transferred to Sachse.

Brooks had a big year for the Eagles in 2016, finishing with 90 tackles and five sacks. His biggest play last year came in the state semifinals against Klein Collins when he took a fumble recovery for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter that gave the Eagles the lead and eventually the win over the Tigers.
Brooks currently has two offers: one from UTSA and the other from Texas State. He’ll now have his opportunity to step in to a Sachse team that finished 11-1 last year and will look to build on that strong 2016 run for the Mustangs.
