Okung is an injury replacement for Oakland Raiders left tackle Donald Penn. It is the first trip back to the Pro Bowl since 2013 when he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
“It’s such an honor to play in the Pro Bowl and continue to do what I love to do,” Okung said in a press release. “I look forward to joining my fellow Chargers teammates in playing against some of the best players in the league.”
Okung was part of a strong offensive line that gave up the fewest sacks in the NFL (18) in 2017.
“I thought Russell Okung did a really solid job for us at left tackle,” Los Angeles Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco said in a release. “He was a rock for us there; a team leader. He protected Philip’s blind side and was just really reliable for us.”
The Pro Bowl will take place on Sunday in Orlando, Florida.
