The Hidalgo Pirates have found their next head coach. Per 956Sports.com, former Port Isabel head coach Monty Stumbaugh has been named the next head coach and athletic director at Hidalgo. Stumbaugh replaces David Duty, who went 3-16 in two seasons as the Pirates head coach and was reassigned after this past season.

Stumbaugh had a very successful 16-year run at Port Isabel, compiling a 123-64 record and making the playoffs in all but two years of his tenure.

He takes over a Hidalgo program that has won just four games in the last three seasons and have not had a winning record since 2012. This will also be the fifth head coach the Pirates have had in seven seasons.
