Webb, coming off arguably his best year to date – in terms of his playoff run, knocked off state powerhouse Allen High School in 2019, eventually losing to Duncanville in the state semi finals. During his tenure in Rockwall, Webb was 61-30, and produced some incredible talent – both in players and coaches.
The most notable player, Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who is committed to Ohio State University, had an eye popping season with over 2,100 receiving yards, and 34 TD’s.
The most notable coach may very well be his new district opponent in Denton Braswell’s Cody Moore.
Coach Moore was the OC for Webb during his days at Mesquite Horn, and Rockwall. During the 2014 season, Moore’s offense put up record setting numbers and led Rockwall to a 12-1 season before Denton hired Moore to become the HC of the new Braswell High School that opened in 2016.
Last season, Moore’s offense was once again prolific as he and OC Collin Strahan led the Bengals to record setting numbers and the first ever playoff appearance, and victory over Corsicanna in the Bi-District round.
Now, the disciple and the teacher will face-off against each other as what appears to become an inner city rivalry between Guyer and Braswell.
Moore vs Webb. The stage is set as Guyer has an incredible replacement to continue the legacy. 2020 continues to develop great storylines in the high school football landscape.
