Frenship Coach Bobby Davis Passes, Leaving a Lasting Legacy
Former longtime Frenship football coach Bobby Davis passed away on Monday. Davis, who retired in 2006 after 25 seasons at Frenship, was celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the school’s football program. Over his career, Davis compiled an impressive record of 173-108 with the Tigers, including multiple playoff appearances and two state semifinal runs.
Davis’ coaching legacy extended beyond his own achievements. He led Frenship to 16 playoff appearances, seven state quarterfinals, and two state semifinals. His accolades included the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor induction in 1999 and the Tom Landry Award in 2002.
Bobby Davis’ coaching lineage continues through his sons. Brad Davis succeeded his father at Frenship and later led Grandview to a state championship in 2018. Another son, Brent Davis, has just commenced his 30th season as a head coach, currently at Gregoy-Portland.
The Davis family boasts a combined coaching record of 594 wins. Frenship ISD has expressed its condolences, noting Bobby Davis’ lasting impact on the district’s athletic department and the numerous students and coaches he inspired throughout his illustrious career.
