Frenship Tigers Claw Past Odessa Bronchos 77-49
On Friday night, district 2-6A play continued in west Texas as the Frenship Tigers took on the Odessa Bronchos at Frenship stadium.
Odessa Bronchos
Bronchos Quarterback Mikey Cota was slinging the ball through the air as he completed 28 of 39 passes for 344 yards, throwing for 7 touchdowns. Cota connected with receivers Ivan Carreon, who had 13 receptions for 115 yards and 4 touchdowns, Jalen Warren, who caught 4 passes for 144 yards, reaching the endzone twice, and Andrew Rodriguez, whose 2 receptions for 20 yards netted him a touchdown.
The Bronchos were just as effective on the ground as they were in the air, as Dejuan Green rushed for 128 yards on 17 carries, and Sebastian Castaneda gained 46 yards on 5 carries.
Frenship Tigers
Hudson Hutcheson made plays everywhere Friday night, completing 26 of 30 passes for 361 yards and throwing for 4 touchdowns. Hutcheson also rushed for 69 yards on the night, getting himself in the endzone twice. Hutcheson connected with receivers Leyton Stone, who had 8 catches for 154 yards and 2 scores, Chase Campbell, who ended with 6 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown, and Landon Hutcheson, who racked up 11 receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown.
As dominant as the Tigers were through the air, they moved the ball on the ground as well. Landon Hutcheson rushed for 65 yards on 8 carries, scoring twice, and Jaden Tackett rushed for 44 yards on 7 carries, scoring once.
As the night belonged to both team’s offenses, the defenses struggled. Each defense had trouble in the first half trying to stop each other’s offenses. In the end, the Tiger’s defense was able to figure out some stops and help Frenship pull out the victory.
Frenship pulls away with a 77-49 win.
Next week, Frenship will travel to San Angelo to play its last game of the season, while Odessa will return home to play its final district game against Midland Legacy.
