Game Preview: Carthage vs Center

Carthage vs Center

The Carthage Bulldogs travel away from home for the first time in almost a month to take on Center in the district opener for both.

The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Both teams come into district play as total opposites.

Carthage vs Center

The Bulldogs are undefeated (4-0), are ranked No. 1 in 4A, and hold the state’s active winning streak at 34 consecutive wins, dating back to 2018.

The Bulldogs won back-to-back 4A Division II state championships over that period.

Center (0-5) is coming off a bye. Prior to that, they gave Van all they could handle before the Vandals pulled away for a 52-35 win. It’s been a rough season for the Roughriders.

In 2020, the Bulldogs beat Center 56-14 in Carthage. They hold a 12-1 advantage over Center in the series history.

Last week Carthage defeated Pleasant Grove 31-6.

Carthage will look to somehow shut down Center’s most dynamic offensive player, wide receiver Jamarion Evans, who has 40 catches for 556 yards and five touchdowns.

Sophomore quarterback Emonte Cross has passed for 814 yards, six touchdowns, and three INTs.

Bulldogs RB Zsema’D Williams ran for season-high 135 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries.

The Bulldogs swiss army knife, Jakerrian Roquemore, played quarterback for Carthage in the final period and even played some at wide receiver, catching a 10-yard pass.

The Carthage defense has allowed their opponents 11 points per game on offense.
