On a hot and humid night in Buda, Texas, the Georgetown Eagles made easy work of the Hays Rebels winning 40 – 17.
The game started out with Georgetown dominating on both sides of the ball. The Eagles took a quick 13-0 lead in the first quarter on two touchdown runs by quarterback Chandler Herman. One for two-yards followed by another plunge from five yards out.
In the second quarter, the Rebels found some offense with a 55-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Gentry Brawith to wideout Patrick Gurerro. The Eagles responded with a beautiful five-yard pass from Herman to Nic Crombie bringing the score to 20-7. Hays closed out the first half with an eight-yard touchdown strike from Tyler Conoly to Gurrerro bringing the score to 20-17.
In the second half it was all Georgetown. The Rebel offense could not find the end zone as the Eagles scored on two field goals by Luis Diaz in the third and two touchdowns in the fourth, a 13-yard pass from Herman to Caden Leggett and a five yard run by Michael McDonald.
Herman finished the game with 150 yards passing and two touchdowns while the Hays duo of Conley and Brawith threw for 152 yards and 100 yards respectively. Each had one touchdown. Hays wide out Patrick Guerrero lead all receivers with 72 yard on five catches and two touchdowns.
Georgetown starts district play next week against 2-0 Hutto while Hays meets 2-0 Dripping Springs.
